Sully
Mandelbrot was founded in 2018 by David A. Sullivan, a Chicago-area based FileMaker developer.
For Sully, it all started in his parents basement with an Apple IIC circa 1985, where he learned a little BASIC. As a young adult, he chose to attend the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. As an undergraduate at the U of I, he won a course redesign contest for Computer Science 105, Computer Science for Engineers, a course that was taught primarily in MatLab. He also studied sociology and played trumpet in the Marching Illini.
After college he spent about 18 years managing several different departments at medium sized local remodeling company, including IT, lead generation, office administration, sales and an event marketing department that distributed hundreds of thousands of pre-filled promotional squirt guns at suburban Chicago street carnivals. After exiting the company in 2019 to pursue development full time, they immediately hired him on as a consultant to manage the myriad solutions he had developed.
As a developer, Sully’s main interests include artificial intelligence, big data, integration and IP telephony. As a human being, his main interests include hiking, music with brass instrumentation and travelling There’s not a lot of problems in the world that don’t have a solution.
